In case the damaged object can not be conserved in a traditional thread-and-needle method the conservator faces a complicated choice – to use or not to use the method of gluing. The further function of the object has a significant influence on the choice. The poster deals with supporting even objects of brittle and fragmentary silk, such as 1. the tricolour mourning streamer of the wreath (1924) of the Risti monument to the War for Independence, 2. the double silk flag with applied embroidery (1936). The method – netting with thermoplastic acrylic glue was used for supporting the pieces. A vacuum table was used while working on the pieces.
