A plaster doll from a private collection dating from the 1930s. The doll’s legs and one hand had broken; one foot and the little finger of the right hand were missing. The earlier repairs had been carried out in an extremely robust way. Conservation – the hollow plaster details were joined by a bridging method, i.e. the joints were linked with a strip of Japanese paper and the cracks were filled with gypsum. The new mass stuck well into the former material and so granted sufficient support for the details to stick together.
